Florida cops have arrested a boy who became famous after he took a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the 2018 Super Bowl after a drunken argument.
Ryan McKenna, 18, was filmed being knocked to the ground by sheriff’s deputies as they tried to wrestle him into handcuffs outside of Pizzeria California in Naples.
McKenna allegedly got into a drunken fight with a 15-year-old friend on the eve of this year’s Super Bowl, then grabbed one of the officers’ hands from his chest while trying to control him, according to an incident report he reviewed. TMZ.
In video of the incident, three officers are seen trying to restrain McKenna until one of them grabbed his left leg, swung it in the air and forced him to the ground.
He was then transferred to Naples Prison Center and charged with felony battery of a law enforcement officer and two misdemeanors – resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.
The Selfie Kid, best known for taking a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl halftime performance in 2018, was photographed while being arrested by cops in Naples, Florida in February.
On February 11, Ryan McKenna, 18, was arrested and taken to a Naples prison facility, where he was charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer.
McKenna became a social media sensation at the age of 13 after taking a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl LII halftime show.
Shortly after the viral incident he appeared on Good Morning America where he said his phone “exploded” with messages and phone calls and excitedly described how he gained more than 8,000 followers on social media overnight.
Having earned the name Selfie Kid, McKenna became increasingly popular for taking more selfies with various celebrities and amassing nearly half a million followers on Instagram.
Discussing his recent arrest in Florida, his mom told TMZ he wasn’t drunk but was hanging out with friends and that a friend had pulled a chair out from under him.
According to a report of the incident reviewed by Al-Wasila, the police were responding to a report on the evening of February 11 that a man had been drunk and beaten his friend.
When the police arrived, officers said a 15-year-old boy told them he was a friend of McCain’s but they got into an argument.
The argument continued to escalate until McKenna stood up and slammed into the California pizza kitchen counter and began shouting obscenities at the boy’s friend.
Cops say they were talking to the 15-year-old when McKenna forcefully intervened, but he was eventually pinned to his side and allowed to calm down.
The mall security then asked to escort McKenna off the property but cops say his behavior then turned aggressive when he tried to approach the boy again.

In the video, an officer can be heard shouting: ‘Put your arms behind your back. You’re being arrested now’, before another raises his leg and slams him to the ground.
The video also shows McKenna being slammed to the ground and flipped into an upside down position. As he lay on the ground, they heard him say to them, “Whoa, whoa!”

Police say they then placed their hands on McKenna’s chest to prevent him from confronting the 15-year-old, but he grabbed the officers’ hands and removed them from his chest.
In the video, an officer is heard shouting: “Put your arms behind your back. You are being arrested now.”
They say that was when they tried to detain him by handcuffing him, but they said he resisted, necessitating being carried to the ground.
The video also shows McKenna being slammed to the ground and flipped into an upside down position. As he lay on the ground they heard him tell them “Whoa, whoa”.
