King Charles has reportedly decided to evict Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage due to his son’s repeated criticism of Queen Consort Camilla.
The monarch issued a notice to the Sussex family on Tuesday to vacate the five-bedroom mansion inside the Windsor estate – a move supported by his wife and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The decision was apparently a difficult one for the king, especially as he was careful not to add fuel to the fire of their ongoing disagreement.
But it’s understandable that he reached a point where he thought Harry had “crossed the line” following allegations made in the Netflix series and The Surprising Prince Spear’s memoirs.
The royal is said to have been particularly angry at accusations that Camilla was responsible for leaking stories to the media, The Mirror reports.

Speaking with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes to promote his book in January, Harry said Camilla’s willingness to forge ties with the British press made her “dangerous” and there would be “bodies left in the street because of it”.
He also referred to her as “the bad guy” in television interviews.
Charles reportedly began the eviction proceedings on January 11 – the day after Speer was released – after reading a file of findings from his aides on details published in the book.
Sources have told The Mirror the accusations have caused irreparable damage to Harry’s relationship with his father and brother, Prince William.
They added, “It was the last straw. Harry was well aware of what a red line Camilla would be to his father and he crossed it with a blatant disregard anyway.
“The King felt without a shadow of a doubt that he had crossed a line—this was the sheer act of disrespect.”
It is understood that the monarch is particularly keen to resolve the many remaining troubling issues around Harry, Meghan and Andrew ahead of his coronation that have been allowed to “linger” for far too long.
It is understood they were initially asked to resign when their lease renewal was due next month, but implementation has been put on hold.
Discussing the decision to start the process, a source said, “It just felt like it would be like tearing up a Band-Aid.” Painful, but once it’s done, it’s done.
The latest development in the ongoing Windsor War suggests that there are more doubts about their appearance at the King’s coronation on 6 May.
Meanwhile, the house has already been offered to Prince Andrew who is reportedly resisting pressure to “downsize” from the seven-bedroom Royal Lodge.
But his existing property is said to have serious moisture problems and needs a new roof, The Sun reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are seen in the kitchen at Frogmore Cottage, where they have been asked to put away their belongings.
The house has already been offered to Prince Andrew who is said to be resisting pressure to “downsize” from the seven-bedroom Royal Lodge.
It is understood that the Royal Lodge is in need of millions of pounds worth of repairs, but Andrew will lose out on the annual funding hiding from Charles.
A source told the newspaper: ‘She spent millions when Andrew moved in but that was 20 years ago.
Hardly any business has lasted for two decades and people are shocked when they visit.
There is a serious problem with damp that needs to be corrected and it doesn’t come cheap on a house of this size. It also needs a new roof.
“Not only does Andrew not have the financial resources to bring the house back to scratch, it will be uninhabitable when the work is done.”
Andrew is currently paying £250 a week for a state-subsidized 30-room mansion with 98 acres of land and a swimming pool – and he’s not keen on leaving it after 20 years.

Buckingham Palace was still refusing to comment yesterday on the decision to ask the Sussexes to pack up their remaining belongings from Frogmore Cottage by early summer.

However, a spokesperson for the couple notably went on record this week to confirm that they have been “asked to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage” – a sign of their shock and anger at the move.

It was originally five run-down staff quarters, but was restored to a large house with a private garden initially using £2.4 million of taxpayers’ money. The couple themselves paid for nothing more than the basic fixtures and fittings.
But they only spent six months at home before moving to North America, first to Canada and then to California, where they bought an £11m mansion in Montecito.
