Is endless recursion a clue to Lost reality?
Producers of ABC's hit series Lost have announced plans to air a retrospective of past retrospectives.
"It's a whole new concept in retrospectives," said Lost producer J.J. Abrams.
Previously on Previously on Lost will showcase the best of the series' retrospectives, taking material both from several hour-long specials and the pre-episode mini-recaps.
"We looked at the material and realized we had about four episodes worth of recaps just in the first season," Abrams said. "We're on track for eight episodes worth of rehashing in the second season. By the third, the backstory will be complex enough to warrant 15 ..."
"I don't want to reveal too much, but I can tell you that year six will have exactly 42 episodes."
Sources say the meta-retrospective will include multiple scenes of Sawyer without a shirt, Kate wearing the hurt-puppy face, and a brief, tantalizing glimpse of something mysterious.
The next episode with new material is scheduled seven weeks from today. It features Sawyer explaining to castaways why The Others should be allowed to dock their boat next to the beach camp.
"There's no cause for alarm," Sawyer assures castaways in the promo for the episode Do Buy Ports. "They won't be in charge of security."
